Be greated, you Rageheads!
Who has turned the clock..... unbelievable, 25 years have past since I have started doing Metal music during "Avenger" times long way back. Who has ever thought, that RAGE will capture their place in this shark tank of music business, developing themselfes to an establishes factor in the global metalworld since a quarter-century. Certainly, a big part is your benefit, therefore a huge "thank you" from our side.
Beside a nice jubilee tour next spring, we're going to offer some "fresh food" in form of the "Never Give Up" EP, which will be released on 16th of January 09, also available as a box-set, inclusively the last RAGE-album "Carved In Stone". On "Never Give Up" EP, there will be new songs and some curiosities like the video bonus material of "Carved In Speed".
Here some words to the songs:

Gib Dich Nie Auf
Music: Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
This very hard, straight song is the second one, I have sung in my motherlanguage German. We were asked for a German Song to contribute for a special Song Contest Show and we liked the idea. This lead us to release this special 25th Anniversary Song collection. It is very interesting for me to sing in other languages, as I was used to do it in English throughout nearly my whole carrer as musician. It definitely expanded my abilities as a vocalist and that´s something we´re all looking for: challenges. The guitar stil of Victor consists out of a mixture of modern, groovy intro and eighties ACDC / Accept riffs and a refrain melody, which won't go out of your head so quick.
The song itself is a true statement for anybody who´s down and out to rise again from the ashes...

Vollmond
Music & Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
This is the other German song I did, it´s one of the five versions of "Full moon". So far, most of you dont know the German one. Get a German dictionary and enjoy.

Never Give Up
Music: Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
It´s the english Version of "Gib dich nie auf". I wrote this words after I did the German words. Ironically, both versions came to paper in a hotel room in Osaka during our last Japan Tour. I was jetlaged and couldn´t sleep in the morning, so I used the time to express myself...

Terrified
Music: Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
This song was the first one we have recorded with Andrè after he joined the band in the end of 2006. He was the session drummer for the songs we worked on for the NB Anniversary Sampler "Into the light". I´m glad we kept him for RAGE. At Terrified, Victor again tuned down his guitar to "C", as he did for "Straight To Hell". There are lot's of fast doublebass parts, as well as many groovy and melodic vocal lines.
The Lyrics are quite personal. It describes the feeling of breaking free after a very stressful relationship.

Lord Of The Flies (Orchestrated Version)
Music: Victor Smolski, Peavy Wagner
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
You know the song probably from our latest Album "Carved in stone", where it was one of the outstanding tunes. Victor overworked the orchestration and did a re-recording with our "Lingua Mortis Orchestra", that´s well experienced for playing our music through several live shows we played with them in the last year. This new version was also used for the computer game "Windchaser". Enjoy the even deeper athmosphere that a hundret piece orchestra gives to the song.

Home
Music: Victor Smolski
Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
This is another orchestrated song. This time you hear only our "Lingua Mortis Orchestra" and me, singing one naked voice, plus Victor playing a breathtaking solo on nylon strings. It has something very intimous, which fits perfectly to the words about the feeling of homesickness.
I was inspired by Victor, who lives his life far away from his homecountry and his family. I imagined, I´d do the same...

Refuge (Live in Wacken 07)
Music & Lyrics: Peavy Wagner
We played this one, a true live classic from the "Missing link" album, after our Show together with orchestra on the WOA 2007 in front of 100 000 people. As we had a few minutes of playing time leftover, and our orchestra was already offstage, we used it to smash out this one in full speed. We didn´t want to use it for the DVD (released together with our latest Album "Carved in stone") as it has nothing to do with the rest of the show. Still, its a great performance, so now here it is!

Bonus material
As announced in a news before, there's also the video bonus material "Carved In Speed" added to the EP, where we are presenting ourselve at a special place.
Let me thank all of you fans of RAGE who supported us all over this 25 years! You made it possible and we love you for being there! See you all again asap!!!
Yours, Peavy
